I've just updated to iBrowse 1.22 and when I select the prefs I get a version error. Why?

This is because you have old versions of IBGeneralPrefs.mcc and IBNetworkPrefs.mcc in your MUI:libs directory. (Usually put there by pirated iBrowse software). Remove these files to fix the problem.

I'm trying to upgrade to 1.22 but the installer says my version of iBrowse is wrong.

This will be because the version of iBrowse you are currently using is 1.02 or earlier. Either that or you have used an unofficial patch to add spoofing or printing to iBrowse. To fix the problem, either upgrade to 1.1x or above or remove the spoofing and/or the print patch.

When accessing new pages with 1.22, iBrowse seems to run very slowly.

This will be because your Global History file is very large (>1MB). In order to minimise the possibility of database corruption, iBrowse 1.22 now updates the cache and history databases every minute. If you reduce the size of the Global History file, this will help iBrowse to run more quickly.

When I click on the Add or Hotlist button a requester appears with the message "unable to open cmanager.library". I can't find the cmanager.library.

iBrowse 1.22 has added support for Vaporware's ContactManager. If you are not using NetConnect you need to remove the checkmark from your General prefs.

How do I use the iBrowse 1.12 SSL libs with iBrowse 1.2x?

The downloadable SSL libs are specifically for version 1.12. To install SSL for iBrowse 1.2x, make backup copies of http.library and https.library, then install iBrowse SSL. After installing iBrowse SSL, copy the 1.2x http.library and https.library backups to your iBrowse drawer.

I cannot print with iBrowse 1.2

This is a bug! It has been fixed in version 1.22.

How do I get the WAV datatype and the QuickTime player?

I am looking for a QuickTime movie to play. Where can I find one?

Download a 30 second QuickTime movie.

Instead of downloading some ".lha" files, iBrowse displays them. Why?

This will be caused by a misconfiguration on the remote web server. The server is inadvertently serving the document with an incorrect MIME type. To work around this problem, shift-click the link and then download the file to disk.

NOTE: When downloading in this manner the file may be corrupted in transit if you access the web through a proxy server. If this happens, temporarily disable the proxy server so that you access the file directly.

When using proxy I am constantly prompted for my user ID. What can I do to stop this?

iBrowse supports proxy authentication for password protected proxies. For older proxies that do not support proxy authentication it is necessary to set your username and password through environment variables. To do this, open a CLI or Shell window and type:

SetEnv http_proxy_username <your_username>
SetEnv http_proxy_password <your_password>

I don't seem to be able to get IBrowse to always use the full screen.

The window settings are a MUI option. To change the settings, run MUI prefs, go to the Windows page, and select Save On Exit for the Positions option. Now when you exit iBrowse your window options will be saved.

What do the colours in the connections indicator mean?

Black - off
Cyan - looking up
White - sending request
Orange - waiting for response
Green - transmitting
Red - error

What are DataType errors 2000 and 2002?

Error code 2000 - Unknown DataType
Error code 2002 - Couldn't open DataType

If you get either of the above error codes it means that the DataTypes on your system are not compatible or that they have expired. Try re-installing your original Workbench DataTypes.

I've just upgraded and when I try to load iBrowse an icon appears then disappears.

Launch MUI prefs and go to the System page. Deselect On-startup in the Iconification preferences. Now iBrowse will load.

URLs are don't seem to be added to the URL history. Why not?

This feature works just like the similar feature in Netscape Navigator - only URLs which you type in are added to the history list.
